On my quest to fulfill the prompts for the PopSugar 2021 Reading Challenge, I decided to read When We Meet Again by Kristin Harmel on my Kindle--A medium I don't typically read in. Due to that, it took me far too long to finish such a beautiful story!

Emily has been gifted a piece of artwork, and in her journey to find the origins, Kristin Harmel takes you on a hauntingly beautiful journey through the decades. Margaret fell in love with a POW, Peter, in America during WW2. During that time, they fall deeply for each other and end up conceiving a child. Due to choices made by those around them, they never knew what truly happened to each other after the war, both believing the other was gone. Margaret was left to raise her child alone, and Peter believed she had passed away years prior. Emily, along with her estranged father, Victor, set out to find meaning behind the painting she was gifted to gather as much information as possible.
Without giving anything away, When We Meet Again takes these characters across the world, while learning stories of near encounters, heartbreak, family deceit, and sorrow. A lifetime of almost but not quite is the fate of two lovers. Both moved on, but never fully.
Bring the tissues, as Kristin Harmel will tear at your heart strings and leave you feeling both emptiness and fulfillment as her story wraps up. Along with the rest of her books, I would recommend this for sure! I gave it a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars.
