It wasn't until recently that I've gotten into Historical Fantasy Fiction...but The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner was the second book of this genre that I had read this year, following The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. I'm so happy that I got the chance to dive into this world as well!

The Lost Apothecary brought you on a magical journey both in the 1700's and present day, where an old Apothecary served the purpose of killing ONLY MEN who had wronged their women. The apothecary was anonymous, run by Nella, until one day, it wasn't. Girls were utilizing the service at a younger and younger age, and eventually, a mistake was made. Nella had befriended and started teaching the way to run the apothecary to 12 year old Eliza. It was then that things fall apart. Separately, present day, Caroline is having troubles with her man, and while they are on vacation, she finds and visits the apothecary.
The story has the right amount of magic to not make it too much of a fantasy, which is perfect for me. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
