I don't know what it is...but I love a good kidnapping story. I always have. I'm drawn to movies, podcasts, tv shows, and books surrounding this topic. It scares the heck out of me, but that is probably why I love it so much. Stolen by Lucy Christopher has been on my TBR for a while, and once I started it, I couldn't put it down.

Gemma was a young girl, on vacation with her parents. While at the airport, she separated from them to go grab a quick snack before boarding the plane. While there, she's talking to a very charming man, and the next thing she knows, she's in a remote Australian desert, stolen from her family, and held captive. Stolen is written as a letter from Gemma to her captor, Ty. Ty loves Gemma. He's been watching her for years, and preparing for the moment that he can take her away. The story takes us through a couple months where Gemma tried multiple times to get away, but Ty has so cleverly made it so she couldn't. Eventually, Gemma gets sick to the point where she has to go to the hospital, and that's when Ty knows it's over.
The story touches on many different topics, such as kidnapping, Stockholm Syndrome, and loss. I was just grateful that it didn't touch on rape...those are always the hardest to read. I was captivated by the story from start to finish, and gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.
