Do you have a favorite author? How did you find them? What was the first book of theirs that you read that made you fall in love? How loyal of a fan are you to their books? So many questions, and ones that I cannot wait to answer about Kristin Hannah!

The first book I ever read by Kristin Hannah was The Great Alone and it immediately became my favorite book of all time. I read it in May of 2019, and skipped a gathering with my husband and friends to finish the book. #noregrets ! I read it again last month, solidifying it's status as my favorite book. The story follows the Albright family in the 1970's and their move from the city to Alaska. Leni, who started as a young teenager, moved there with her parents, Cora and Ernt, young lovers who became pregnant very young. Ernt was also a POW from Vietnam, and one of his war buddies had left his land in Alaska to him and his family. The first winter wasn't their only trouble, with Ernt's anger issues surfacing in the vast alone. This book has laughter, heartbreak, sorrow, and joy. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone (in fact, I have already lent my copy to more people than I can count).

The Nightingale was the second novel I read by Kristin Hannah, and helped solidify her as my favorite author. I mentioned in a previous post that I grew up Jewish, and books like these always hit hard. World War 2 is always a hard topic to read about, but I feel like it's one of the most important. The Nightingale is a story of sisters and survival during Nazi occupied France. The movie was supposed to come out in the end of 2020, but due to certain circumstances (damn COVID), we will have to wait for that. Fun fact: Chanukkah 2019, my husband got me a signed copy of The Nightingale, and it's now one of my most-prized possessions. I want to read this book again very soon, especially before the movie comes out. I'm not a huge movie theater person, but I'll definitely make an exception for Kristin Hannah.

I could write forever on each book I read that was written by Kristin Hannah, but I'm going to close out this post with Firefly Lane. (DO NOT WORRY---I WILL DO ANOTHER POST IN THE FUTURE). However, I find it incredibly important to speak about this book for a couple reasons. 1. The Netflix series based on the book comes out on February 3, 2021, and 2. Firefly Lane was such a beautiful story, and I believe everyone needs to read it. Kate and Tully grew up with each other on Firefly Lane, and their journey together remains strong as they grow. One is free-spirited, and the other is more grounded, but their differences make them a perfect fit. They are always there for each other to celebrate accomplishments and support through grief. Firefly Lane made me cry so hard, and I just know I'm in for hours of emotional turmoil when the series premieres.
I could go on forever about Kristin Hannah, but I hope that this was enough to convince you to at least dive in. I'm such a fan, that the moment I realize that she has another book coming out ***The Four Winds on sale February 2, 2021 (available now for pre-order)*** I place my order for pre-order without even needing to know what the next book is about. I hope you give her a chance, and if you do-please let me know what you think!!
