Having recently binged the Gossip Girl series on HBO Max, I just HAD to read the book for myself. Well, at least the first book (I have a few more on deck). The book was very fast paced, and fun to read.

The first thing I noticed was how different the book was from the series. Characters were in the book that were never in the series (ie: Chuck's mom) and some characters had different roles (ie: Erik was Serena's older brother in the book, but younger brother in the series). The book was lacking in character development, but because I had the series, I didn't have trouble picturing any of them. It may have been a down side to watching the show before reading any of the books, but it was still a fun experience for me. The books were definitely written for a younger audience, but if you're looking for a quick, fun read--I would recommend Gossip Girl by Cecily Von Ziegesar.
I do plan to read more of the series, but I have no immediate need to rush into the next book. I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.
